You know, I mailed off 4 packages today stuffed full of goodies I made this week, but did I take pictures of any of them.... well no! So here are some things from this week I did take pics of! BTW I finished Moduel 2 of my homework! YIPEE! Now that is a big accomplishment for the week!
First off is the skirt from H E 1 1!!!! This thing took me a month, and in the end the receiving mama hated it and I took the whole thing out and started over, ending up with THIS-

I also made a cute swim suit! I actually made 3 this week, but this is my fav!
9 girly newborn diapers I was hopeing to sell but it looks like the mama may have backed out!

Tonight I will be working on my "knit woodland creatures'...... Pics of them next week! :)

Help me for a great cause!

This year I am a team captain for a team in our local relay for life walk. For anyone who does not know what this is, it is a walk to raise awareness and money for cancer and cancer research. My family did it last year, and my extended family is having a team this year. As a special part of this I am selling "luminaries" that will be placed around the track with the names of people who have battled cancer. The names will be read during a special ceremony. You can purchase a bag for your loved ones for $5.00. You can choose to decorate the bag yourself or just give me the name of your loved one and I can do it for you. If you are interested please leave me a comment or email me at Josieannking@hotmail.com I can assure you that the money will be going straight to the American Cancer Society. This is such a special way to honor loved ones who have passed away from, survived or and currently battling cancer and all that comes with it! Please join us in our fight! (Contact me, I can take checks, money orders, paypal.....)

Crunchy Tuesday

Household cleaning products-
With earth day last week, and a bad economy, many people are turning to natural cleaners instead of the harsh bleach and fumes that can make you sick to your tummy. I have tried a few of the different "natural cleaners" and "plant based cleaners" out there and YUCK! I really dislike the smell of the arm and hammer naturals yellow stuff. SO here are some links and recipes to natural cleaners. Try them and let me know what you think, and please leave me any recipes you have that you want to share! (around here we just use water, and if we need something a bit more I use some vinegar and water in a bottle! Works fine for us!)

Mix in a sprayer bottle:

1 cup white vinegar
1 cup water

In the kitchen, use vinegar-and-water spray to clean countertops, lightly soiled range surfaces and backsplash areas.

In the bathroom, use vinegar spray cleaner to clean countertops, floors, and exterior surfaces of the toilet.

For really tough bathroom surfaces such as shower walls, pump up the cleaning power by removing the sprayer element and heating the solution in the microwave until barely hot. Spray shower walls with the warmed generously, allow to stand for 10 to 15 minutes, then scrub and rinse. The heat helps soften stubborn soap scum and loosens hard water deposits.

Organic cleaning recipes
Non-toxic home care
eco-cycle

You know, there really isnt much to say about this topic, except for the fact that this is one of the easiest, most money saving thing you can do! Vinager is less than $3 for over a gallon! That could last you MONTHS! As opposed to the $4 a bottle you will spend every 3-4 weeks on cleaning supplies! Along with unpaper towels, you can save yourself up to $100 a month! Just think about it and let me know what you do!

Breastfeeding on Sesame Street

I love seeing stuff like this around. More people need to realise what a great thing being able to breastfeed is and not be so critical and grossed out by it! Here are some links of some Sesame Street clips.

Think about it Sunday

Alright-
SO with DH getting a note sent home on Friday about his class being infected with the chicken pox, and the whole swine flu scare here is the question of the week. Do you let the news totally affect the way you live? DO these sort of things freak you out? And what do you plan to do about it?

SO here is my deal. I wish I had known about the chicken pox before it was all over, cause I would have taken Ray Ray up there and let her get them! That chicken pox vaccine is dumb- I dont think it actually does anything. Either that or our family is immune to the shot- cause most of my cousins kids have gotten then despite being immunized! As for the swine flu- yeah it scares me! I try not to look into it too much, because I am a total and complete worry wart. I freaked about Sars, the bird flu, and now this is just 1 more thing, but Im not worried enough to let it run my life- UNTIL it hits Utah lol, then we will see! If it comes to Utah, I am pretty sure I will be mighty glas it is summer, and keep my fam indoors! But we will see!!

Now what do you think?

Tip for the weekend

When browning hamburger I have a tip that saves time and wastes less. When you go to dump the grease out, use an ice cream scoop! It works into all the corners and works perfect every time!

Things im working on Thursday

Well Thursday this week was spent working on a 8 page paper about sheep.... So I kind of cheated and worked a little on Friday and I am just going to show you what I took pics of this morning! lol

For the boutique-
Mei Tai's
Sold this one in 2 hours!

Wore this one last night and really may not be able to give it up! LOVE it!!

Diaper cuts-I ran out of white flannel and they wont have any more in our store until the middle of the month! (Or these would all be diapers!)

For swaps and gifts-

Custom training pants! I LOVE this pattern and will be making a whole load of them!!
The inside view (waterproof outside, 3 layers of absorbant inside, and 2 body layers of knit!)

I hand dyed all the FOE to go around the pants- well the blueish green and the pink ones! lol It was super fun and if I had a bunch more, and some different colored dye I would do a whole ton! The pink was made with pink sparkly frosting and the greenish blue with food coloring!

Crunchy Tuesday

New feature alert!! I think everyone would like to be a little more crunchy, so I am going to devote Tuesdays to trying to help spread the word and teach a little bit about some of the things people might like to try, but don't know about! SO here goes!

Mama Pads-

Since I had so many questions when I posted about mama pads, I will take a little time to try to explain what I know. (If you are grossed out- dont be! It is SO not a gross out thing- just info!)

Cloth pads are just that- Cloth pads! I bet you had no idea there existed a thing did you? These pads are made to actually fit, made of cushy fabric, help make your flow lighter and can save you hundreds, probably thousands of dollars a year on feminine products.

This was my first experience with them, and I must say I was SO pleasantly impressed! They are completely waterproof, and minus a tiny bit of a wet feeling, they were WAY better than regular ones! ( No sticking, sweating, you know!)

Cloth pads can be worn by themselves or with something called a diva cup . I must admit, that when I first came across the whole idea, I was totally grossed out- but now just thinking of the hundreds of bucks that could be saved, I figured 'hey, lets give it a try'.

SO if you are pregnant and have a little trouble when you cough or sneeze.... (We have all been there!) Now would be a great time to try your hand at these little babies- trust me, they are GREAT!

SO anyway- if you want some more info on this subject here are some links
Wikipedia's definition
A store to buy them
Some good info

And finally, If I havnt lost you yet.... lol If you are interested and want to try one out to see what you think, then please shoot me an email (My addy is on the sidebar in a little box titled email me!) And I will send you one for free if you pay the shipping!

Looking back, if you could have studied anything in college, what would it be and why?

I would have really enjoyed getting a home ec degree! Really! I think it would be really fun to teach kids to sew and cook and other stuff...... Maybe someday! lol

And if anyone is wondering what I AM going to school for right now- it is Medical Transcripting.... Yuck lol
