oops- 3 things parents shoudl teach their kids

I got too excited with my last post. But the REAL blog hop thing is 3 things parents should teach their kids

1. To pray. I think teaching them young instills a love for prayer and for the savior!
2. To cover their mouth when they cough!~ Enough said right?
3. How to fall asleep on their own. (One I have been struggling with lately!)

3 things every parent should know!

(I thought.....) Today's blog hop theme is "3 things every parent should know! This fits into my theme, so I am more than excited to go ahead and let you know what I think the answer to this is!

1. No matter how organic the baby food is, or if the first baby food is a veggie or a fruit, or if you baby's favorite food is Brussels sprouts and broccoli, when they turn about 14 months the only things they will eat will be Chicken nuggets, mac and cheese and cookies......

2. Do not buy white shirts- there is no amount of laundry detergent that will EVER make them stay that way....

3. You can always buy the most expensive toys and gadgets out there, but your kids favorite toy is always going to be the wrapping paper or box it comes in!

Leave me a comment with the link to your answer to these questions! This will be SO fun to read!!

Tutorial- easy and cheap gift for any kid!

Looking for something to keep your kids entertained, save a few bucks and gift to all your kids buddies? Well I have the idea for you! I am going to show you how to make chunky rainbow crayons! I plan on making these for all the kids in the neighborhood for Christmas!

All you need to complete this project is a box of crayons, (on sale for $0.30 at Walmart! GO STOCK UP while they are still there!) an oven, and a muffin tin! SO easy and SO much fun! Your kids can totally help you along the way too! (I would recommend either an old muffin tin or some of those baking cups because it will leave some wax! Also paper cups work but differently! lol Obviosly not in the oven.)
Step #1- Preheat your oven to the highest temperature it will go, I did mine at 525 and it was plenty hot, Im sure even 400 would be ok!
Step #2- WHile the oven is heating up you are going to peel your crayons. The easiest way to do this is to have the adult take a sharp knife with a point and scour the paper all the way down. (Crayons have a gluey thing holding the paper on for some of them, and it can become a NOT FUN process if you try to just peel them all!) Once the paper is scoured just peel it off and discard it!
Step #3- Once all the crayons are un wrapped, you are going to break them into little pieces. You will take the pieces and drop them into the muffin tin, seperating the colors but letting them go where they want to. Each chunky crayon will be completely different! That is half the fun of it!
Step #4- Turn the oven off and pop the tin in there. It will be hot enough that you will need to check it after less than 5 minutes. When the wax is all completely melted, take the tin carefully out of the oven and set it to cool off. Make sure it is completely cool, I left mine overnight, but have heard you can throw it in the freezer for 1/2 hour!

Step #5 Carefully pop the chunky crayons out of the tin. Make sure they dont smack too hard on the counter because they may break!

Step #6 Enjoy! To gift you can wrap in some tissue paper or saran wrap. Kids of ALL ages will love these and they took you next to no work and cost less than $0.07 a piece!

Crunchy Tuesday

So we all know that cooking from scratch is one of the best ways to have a crunchy lifestyle. I have always wanted to do this, and always have great intentions, but most the time our dinners come out of the freezer or from somewhere else. SO here is the challenge for the week. (P.s. I WILL get the recipe swap out today SO so Sorry for the delay!) Please leave me a comment with your blog post containing your favorite recipe using chicken, and please dont forget to sign it into Mclinky and put the linky into you blog post! (This is my first experience with it, so lets hope it works!)

Blog Hoppin

So it is Tuesday, anothe blog hop day! This weeks theme to the blog hop is-

WHY YOU SHOULD READ MY BLOG
I started this blog as a way to try to teach others some of the ways I have found to raise my baby girl on no more money than we were spending on the 2 of us. It has evolved into much more than that! Now I share my thoughts on the world of all things crunchy, I like to do craft tutorials that are easy and fun and share tips on things I have been doing to keep a budget in check. Lately a lot of it has been mindless ramblings, but I am trying to get back in the swing of things! Right now I am running a contest for a custom made hat made by me in any size or style for the person who picks the best choice for a Halloween costume for my cute daughter, my husband or myself! Go here and read and help us out! SO I think you should read my blog and get to know me and my family! if you become one of my followers I will return the favor as soon as I can! I hope you will stick around, we have a lot of fun! :)

Think about it Sunday

Its fall! My favorite holiday is coming up too and I cannot wait to start decorating! (I have to wait until October 1 lol!) So this has got me thinking HARD about what we are doing this year for costumes! I have to admit, I LOVE to make costumes! Last year I told DH he was allowed to choose ANYTHING he wanted to be- he chose to be Darth Mal from Star Wars-

He also got to choose what the baby dressed as- he chose a Lion!

As for me? I wore an old dance costume from 6th grade, and I didnt get a picture lol.

So this year I need some ideas! I need to know what you think we would look good in! In fact, I am making this a contest! The winner gets a custom made crochet hat, any color combo, any size! And there are 3 of us, so there can be up to 3 winners! I have an *idea* of what I would like Ray Ray to be, but not a clue about the rest of us! So HELP us out! Leave me your ideas!

Also, are you the mom who dresses up? What kind of candy do you give out? How do you decorate? I want to hear it all!

Lookie what I got!

This morning I opened the front door and much to my surprise was a big box waiting for me! It was the prize I won in the big giveaway party over at the BUZZ . It was an AMAZING gift set from Plush Naturals and let me tell you, it is AMAZING! Sadly as you can see, the body scrub spilled and leaked all over the box, but that just made it smell much more inviting upon opening! lol. I cannot WAIT to get in the bath when DH comes home to watch the baby. YIPPPEEEEE! Thanks Brandy for hosting the giveaway, and thanks My Plush for offering it up!
.

Husbands....

Gotta love them right? I LOVE mine SO much, but sometimes, I just dont get it! lol.

I have been having a pretty bad month. My uncle died this weekend and the viewing and funeral were Wed and Thursday. Last weekend after I got paid I gave the money to my DH and asked him to go get me something. I ment a flower, a candy bar, a card, just something to make me feel special. He said "OK" and promptly went upstairs where he played on the computer for 2 hours before coming downstairs to watch tv. SO I didnt get anything because he said it wasnt enough money to get me what I deserve. :( SO yesterday after all the drama and sadness I asked him again to go get me something. I told him, it doesnt have to be something big, just something! So he took the baby and was gone for an hour. And what did he pick up you might ask? Well again, nothing. He went on telling me about how it wasnt enough to get something good and I said, "anything, anything would be better than nothing"

SO anyway, have you ever done this? Does your husband do little things for you?

It turned out that he finally decided to get me a massage at the place he works! I am SUPER excited! The last time I got a massage I was 8 months pregnant AND sick and I hurt for a week after, so I am exicted and hope this one goes better! :)
